Last Month of Letters

Hello Family and Friends -

Happy Saturday and Happy JUNE (I cannot believe it's JUNE now - I'm now only 3 months away from my half-mark point of the mission!).  Anyways - it's been another hardworking and good week here in Salt Lake.  Some interesting news coming in this letter.  Also - I will not be writing home next Saturday because of a limited number of computers in the Family History Library, so I'll be writing home on either Thursday or Friday at 2pm Utah time.  Here's my week!

Saturday 5/28 - We played some dodgeball for evening mission sports, which was alot of fun.

Sunday 5/29 - We got up and saw Music and the Spoken Word (in a very FILLED UP Tabernacle!).  We then had our branch choir practice and our regular Sunday meetings (the branch choir got to sing in church on Sunday!).  We also got to hear from Bishop Causse (the presiding bishop!) during the last hour of church, which was really cool.
Monday 5/30 - For Memorial Day we got to have a pancake breakfast with the mission presidency and some of our mission president's grandchildren, which was alot of fun.  We also got to hike up to a cemetery which was alot of fun too.  We also spent some time playing sports and then had our District Meeting in the evening.

Tuesday 5/31 - We spent the day working in our day zone.  For our night zone that night - we did another film inventory (a senior couple does film and book inventories during the day!).

Wednesday 6/1 - We worked in our day zone during the day and also had our usual Wednesday Elijah Choir practice - the choir is preparing for the upcoming Pioneer Day Program in July as well as numbers for the other Monday devotionals.  That night in our Access Services zone - we did a book inventory helping out another senior couple who performs them during the day.

Thursday 6/2 - We spent the day working in our day zone assignments.  Thursday night in Access Services - we did another book inventory - and we found some books that were RESTRICTED.  When we find a restricted book, it goes to the employees that work in the library (I'm sure they had a VERY FUN day on Friday with all the restricted books we found haha!).

Friday 6/3 - We worked in our regular day and night zones.  In the night zone, we did book and film inventories (we do the book inventory on the B2 floor; and we do the film inventories on B2, B1, the High Density room, and 2nd floor!).

Saturday 6/4 - We got up early this morning so we could participate in morning sports - we played Ultimate Frisbee outside.  We then did our laundry and just got back from shopping.

Now for my interesting news - this coming Monday (June 6) - our mission is going to be taking a picture, so that will be at least 1,200 missionaries (wish me luck haha!).  Also - the Young Elders are going to do a session in the newly rededicated Odgen Temple this coming Wednesday (June 8) - which I'm excited about.

That's my week (and a sneak peak of next week!).  Thanks as always for your support and prayers.  I've definitely had a good week this week.  Hope everyone has a great week this coming week! :)

Hello Family and Friends -
I'm writing TODAY (Friday!) as the library will not be available tomorrow due to a lack of computers for the block party.  It's been another great and busy week here in the mission.  Here's my week!

Saturday 6/4 - That night we played sports outside of our stake center on the field.

Sunday 6/5 - We went to see Music and the Spoken Word in the morning, then we had branch choir practice (we're singing in church this coming Sunday!), and then we had our church meetings.  That night we had a young elder fireside which was great!

Monday 6/6 - We had our mission-wide photo (LOTS of missionaries are in that photo!) in the morning in lieu of a devotional (I have not received that photo yet, but I'll send it along the p-day after I receive it!).  We then worked in our day work zones and then that night we had District Meeting.

Tuesday 6/7 - We worked as normal during the day, and then we had a special devotional where the speaker was Brad Wilcox (he's a religion professor at BYU!).  He gave a great message about the meaning of the Gospel.  We then had dinner and then worked in our evening zone.

Wednesday 6/8 - We spent the day at the OGDEN Temple (yes, we got to go to Ogden!) to do a session.  After we got back, our day zone had a farewell social for the departing missionaries.  We then had our Elijah Choir practice in the afternoon.  That night we did our laundry, since we won't be able to do laundry tomorrow either.

Thursday 6/9 - Yesterday we had a normal day with working in our day and night zones.  My companion and I (as well as lots of other missionaries in our day zone!) had to move desks this week, but we're all settled in now.

Friday 6/10 - We've been doing work in our zone today and now I'm emailing.  Tonight we'll work in our night zone in the Family History Library.

It's been an exciting week and also a busy one.  Next week I'll be able to email at my normal time.  Hope you all have a great week!  LOVE YOU ALL! :)

Hola Friends and Family -

Happy Saturday!  Hard to believe that another week has come and gone all too quickly once again.  Also - transfers are coming up on Tuesday, so I don't know when I'll be writing next, but we shall see!  Here's this past week!

Friday 6/10 - In the evening, we worked in our regular evening zone.  That night, we did some more inventories with the books and microfilms.

Saturday 6/11 - Since Saturday was the block party at the Family History Library, we did not do too much, but we did go out to lunch with our district, which was fun.  We then helped take down from the block party.  That night, we had our sports activity as usual, which was alot of fun.
Sunday 6/12 - We got up and saw the rehearsal and broadcast for Music and the Spoken Word, and then we had our branch choir practice.  We then had our normal Sunday meetings, in which our branch choir sang - we had a violin player, a harp player, and a flute player accompanying us.  That night, we had a dinner appointment, and the food was tacos, and that was really good.

Monday 6/13 - We got up early for our 6:15am Elijah Choir rehearsal.  We then had our Monday morning devotional (the first one in 3 weeks!).  After the devotional, we worked in our work zone, and then that night, we had our district meeting.

Tuesday 6/14 - We spent the day working in our zone.  We also had the first day of the senior mission conference, where the Elijah Choir sang at.  Normally, the senior mission conferences are from 2-3pm on a Tuesday and a Wednesday.  This month, they were from 3-4pm on Tuesday and Wednesday (next month, they'll be from 3-4pm on a Tuesday and 2-3pm on a Thursday!).  That night, in our night zone, we conducted some more inventories with the books and films.

Wednesday 6/15 - We had our young elder conference in the morning, which was really good.  We then had choir practice for the 2nd day of the senior mission conference, and because the mission conference was from 3-4pm, we were able to have our Wednesday rehearsal immediately after the conference in the JSMB chapel.  That night (as well as Thursday night and last night!), for our night zone, I was in a temporarily tri-panionship, since my companion was a trainer for the new young elders.

Thursday 6/16 - We worked in our regular day and night zones on Thursday.

Friday 6/17 - Yesterday we spent another busy day working in our day and night zones.

Saturday 6/18 - So far today we have done our laundry and are now emailing.

It's been another great and busy week here in the mission.  Hope you all have a wonderful week! :)

Hello Family and Friends,
Happy Saturday!  It's hard to believe that p-day has come once again!  We had our transfers this past week, and I was completely unaffected by the transfer, so same apartment, same companion, same apartment-mates, same zones, and same p-day!  Here's a rundown of my week!

Saturday 6/18 - After emailing home, we went shopping, and then had a driver's training and sports.  I, along with a few other elders, also spent a bit of time practicing our song that we sang this past Sunday.

Sunday 6/19 - We went to see Music and the Spoken Word - Father's Day Special, and then we had our branch choir practice.  We then had our regular Sunday meetings, where I, with 3 other elders, participated in a special musical number, which went really well.

Monday 6/20 - We got up really early so we could get to the Elijah Choir rehearsal on time, and then we had our Monday devotional.  After the devotional, we worked in our day zones, and then had our zone conference that night.

Tuesday 6/21 - We spent the day working in our normal day zone assignments, and then had our transfer conference, and like I said, I was completely unaffected, which was nice.  We then had dinner and went to our night zone assignments (the library was DEAD SILENT that night, due to transfers!).

Wednesday 6/22 - We worked in our normal day zone assignments in the day, and then had our Elijah Choir rehearsal in the afternoon - where we're still working on music for upcoming devotionals, mission conferences, and the Pioneer program in July.  We then worked in our night shifts.

Thursday 6/23 - We worked in our zone, and had LOTS of food (our seniors brought cake and ice cream!), since one of our seniors and young elders in our day zone were having a birthday (if I'm still in the same day zone in August, I'm sure they'll do something for my birthday!).  In our night zone, we did another book inventory, where we're basically looking to see if the title and call number of a book match within the book and our system.

Friday 6/24 - Yesterday we spent another day working in our zone assignments.  In the night zone, we conducted another book inventory, and we found some very interesting book titles.

Saturday 6/25 - We got up for morning sports this morning, and after sports, we came back to our courtyard only to find out that senior missionaries were feeding us breakfast, which was nice, and it was on one of the nicest mornings of this month.  We then did our laundry, a dry cleaning run, and went shopping.

As you can see, it's been another great and busy week here in the mission.  Hard to believe that JULY is around the corner!  Hope you guys have a wonderful week! :)

A little info on what MIchael does during his ZONE time
Well my day zone is Data Security Historical Records in the JSMB, in which we look at birth, marriage, death, and census records and make sure they are accurate, where we're on computers ALL DAY, and then my night zone is Access Services in the Family History Library, where right now we're doing book inventory on B2, and then do microfilm searching on B2, B1, the High Density room, and 2nd floor!

Hello Family and Friends,

HAPPY JULY (I can't believe I'm saying that right now hahahaha!).  This week has been another exciting and busy one.  Here's my week!

Saturday 6/25 - After doing emails, we did our evening sports activity.

Sunday 6/26 - We saw the rehearsal and broadcast for Music and the Spoken Word (the tabernacle choir is now in Europe, so the next 3 broadcasts will be pre-recorded!).  We then had our branch choir practice (we also sang in church this past Sunday!), and then we had church.  That night, we had our dinner appointment with 3 of our senior sisters.

Monday 6/27 - We got up at 5am so we could get to the Elijah Choir practice on time (6:15am!).  We then had our Monday morning devotional, where we had a church employee spoke (he spoke the whole time, so the choir sang the closing song!).  We then worked in our zone, and then had our district meeting that night.

Tuesday 6/28 - We spent the day working in our regular day and evening work assignments.

Wednesday 6/29 - We worked and we also had our Wednesday Elijah Choir rehearsal (even though we don't sing on Monday, due to July 4th, we've been practicing our songs for the Pioneer program on July 18, as well as the devotional on July 11 and mission conferences on July 19 and 21!).  The senior zone leader couple of our evening zone left food for us to eat during evening zone, since we've been working so hard on book and film inventory.

Thursday 6/30 - We had another hardworking and busy day in the work zones.

Friday 7/1 - Yesterday we worked, and had lots of food (the seniors and church employees do like to feed us quite a bit in our zone!).  My companion and I also went out to lunch with some other elders.

Saturday 7/2 - We went to morning sports this morning, did our laundry, and just recently did our shopping.

Might I also mention - it was in the 100's on Monday and Tuesday (at least it's not as humid here as in VA!).  As you can see, lots of exciting things happened this past week.  I'm looking forward to the 4th of July - we'll start our morning with sports, and then the mission is feeding us pizza for lunch, we'll watch a patriotic film, maybe have more sports, and then we'll have our usual district meetings/zone conferences.

Hope everyone has a great week and a super 4th of July! :)

Elder Frederickson
